We are a UK based company specialising in serving hot and cold gourmet  chocolate drinks, like you have never experienced before.

At Cocoa Joe's we take pride in our drinks. We will never use pre-packaged powder, only solid pieces of exceptional single origin chocolate. Each drink is made to order using our refined techniques to ensure a delicious taste and velvety texture without the need for any artificial additives.

​

Simply select one of our carefully chosen solid chocolates and watch as it is transformed in front of your eyes. Each one of these chocolates will provide an experience on its own, but for those who are more adventurous we also have an array of flavours and spices that we can infuse into your drink for you.

OUR CHOCOLATE

We have a  simple philosophy behind what we do, and that is 'only great chocolate can make great a great chocolate drink'. Makes sense right? For this reason we take our choice of chocolates very seriously.

​

Single origin chocolates allow for a much cleaner and richer taste. The specific species of cacao tree, and the different conditions that they are cultivated in, are what allow chocolates to develop their distinctive flavours.

Unfortunately most of the chocolate on the market is made using ingredients from different origins blended together, often with unnecessary additives. This can mask each chocolate's unique characteristics. You would not mix two fine wines in the same glass, so we do not believe in mixing different chocolate together in the same bar.

Our menu lists the origin, cocoa solid percentage and defining flavours of each chocolate. This allows you to pick the perfect chocolate base for your drink to suit your own tastes. But don't just take our word for it, you are free to sample any of our chocolates for yourself before you decide which is the one for you.

Sustainability is also extremely important to us. That is why, on top of exclusively using compostable  packaging, we will only buy from suppliers who can demonstrate a commitment to fairness and proper farming practices. Ensuring that those who produce the chocolate we love get a good deal, so that it can be enjoyed for generations to come.

OUR STORY

Where it all started...

Cocoa Joe's came about because I love chocolate, after all who doesn't? I have been lucky enough to try chocolate all over the world. However, I found that whilst fine solid chocolate is widely available and comes in a vast array of flavours, the same was not true for drinking chocolate.

​

This realisation led to the founding of Cocoa Joe's. Rather than treating solid chocolate and drinking chocolate as separate, surely the best way to make gourmet chocolate drinks is to simply use the best solid chocolate you can find?

​

I then began to try out my own hot chocolate recipes at home. This picture shows the first  single origin hot chocolate chocolate that I ever made, back in September  of 2018.  After several months of experimentation, I eventually found a way of making a hot chocolate that I was  truly content with, and I decided this was too good to keep to myself.

​

I set up a market stall where I would sell hot chocolates and we got fantastic feedback from our customers. Whilst at the market I also started to try out cold drink recipes  as  the weather became warmer.

​

After some time at the market perfecting our product, it was time to expand and open up our first shop. We are now trading in the beautiful Pateley Bridge in North Yorkshire and we hope to see you soon...

The menu shows only our current chocolate offerings. We also serve tea and single origin coffee, which we can mix with chocolate  for an extra indulgent mocha
